Students from Alta Vista went on a trip to Johnson County Community College (JCCC) for a conference about the Latino organization. Transitions coordinator John Kearney organized a group of Latino students to go to the campus to participate in the conference and its activities.

Senior Omar Correa, one of the Latino students who attended the field trip, felt really good about going on the trip.

“[I] was surprised about how many programs they have,” Correa said.

He also explained how JCCC benefited him because “it is a great college for him, giving [him] a second chance.”

Another thing that interested him was the fact that “the college is not as expensive as others, and it has a high graduation percentage,” Correa said.

“I am thankful for this opportunity,” said senior Tania Rios. “It was a great experience as a Latino girl to go and represent for my school. JCCC is a great school to start over with and to get a new start with your GPA.”

She plans on attending JCCC after she graduates to pursue her career.
